Little Something for a Friend / Kis apróság egy barátnak

A good friend of mine celebrated her birthday last week and I wanted to surprise her with something special. What could be better choice than something snowy and wintery for a winter born person?

Her favourite colour is dark blue, I chose this for the door and the outside colour of the box, to reach a nice and cold feeling. I wanted to use only cool shades, so added green grass partially covered with ice and snow, some topiaries in white and pale blue pots, a wreath, and a huge green wreath on the door decorated with silver stars, balls and a bow. My favourites are the old concrete steps, broken and worn. The shabby items like the lovely blueish birdhouse, the distressed wooden box and the wall lamp add some warm to the scene. I used super glue on the glass (plexiglass) of the lamp, it gives us a feeling of handmade, uneven glass instead of industrial looking. I used a flickering warm white LED to illuminate the lamp. 

The birthday girl was very happy to have it and I hope you like it as well.

Egy kedves barátom a múlt héten ünnepelte a születésnapját, és meg akartam lepni valami különlegessel. Mi lehetne jobb választás egy téli születésű embernek, mint valami havas, télies darab?

Mivel a kedvenc színe a sötétkék, ezt választottam az ajtó, valamint a doboz külső színének is, hogy kellemes és hideg hatást keltsen. Csak hideg árnyalatokat akartam használni, ezért zöld fű került a talajra részben hóval és jéggel fedve, néhány buxus fehér és halványkék edényben, egy koszorú, és egy hatalmas ajtókoszorú ezüst csillagokkal, gömbökkel és masnival dekorálva. A kedvencem az öreg, rozzant és viseltes betonlépcső. A shabby chic stílusú darabok, mint a kékes madáretető, a kopott fadoboz és a falilámpa kis  melegséget kölcsönöz a jelenetnek. A lámpa üvegén (plexi) pillanatragasztót használtam, ezzel olyan hatást érhetünk el, mintha a lámpa üvege egyenetlen, kézzel készült lenne, nem gépi üveg.  Melegfehér pislákoló LED-et használtam a lámpa megvilágításához.

A születésnapos nagyon örült neki, remélem nektek is tetszik.

Tulips / Tulipánok

Today was the first day in the last 3 weeks when I made something miniature. It is a birthday cake decorated with tulips. I made it to a friend’s friend, the instruction was the following: „ she likes green, black and purple/lilac colours”. I really didn’t want to make a black birthday cake to a woman, so I unleashed my imagination and came out with a pale green cake decorated with purple and lilac colour tulips, where the purple ribbon draws the number 40. I hope she will like it.

Ma volt az első nap az elmúlt három hét során, hogy valami miniatűrt készítettem, egy tulipánokkal díszített születésnapi tortát. Egy barátom barátjának készült, a következő instrukciót kaptam: „szereti  a zöldet, a feketét és a lilát”. Semmiképpen nem akartam egy hölgynek fekete születésnapi tortát csinálni, így szabadjára engedtem a fantáziámat, és egy világoszöld tortát készítettem bordóslila és orgonalila tulipánokkal díszítve, ahol a bordóslila szalag rajzolja ki a 40-es számot. Remélem szeretni fogja J

My Little Sister’s Birthday Cake / A kishúgom szülinapi tortája

I am a very fortunate person. Not only because I have a sister, but because we are best friends too and it is one of the biggest gifts the God could gave us. My sweet and lovely little sister had her birthday last week, and I decided to make her a special, long lasting birthday cake. As she was born on spring solstice I thought to make something which contains flowers…. Finally I came up with a 3-tier pale green cake, where the different tiers are divided by flowers… lots of flowers. It took a week to prepare the flowers, then only 2 hours to put together the whole cake.

Special announcement: there will be further delay in the salon de thé, as I will participate on the Chicago International, which means last minute (more “last weeks”) work to do.

Nagyon szerencsés ember vagyok. Nem pusztán azért, mert van egy húgom, hanem azért, mert a legjobb barátok is vagyunk, és ez egyike a legnagyobb ajándékoknak amit a Jóisten adhatott nekünk. Az én imádnivaló cuki kistesóm a múlt héten ünnepelte a szülinapját, és elhatároztam, hogy egy különleges, örök életű szülinapi tortával lepem meg. Mivel a tavaszi napfordulón született, valami olyanra gondoltam, aminek köze van a virágokhoz… végül egy háromszintes, világoszöld tortát készítettem, ahol a különböző szinteket virágok választják el egymástól… rengeteg virág. Egy hétig gyártottam a virágokat, és mindössze két órát vett igénybe a torta összeállítása.

Közérdekű bejelentés: újabb késés várható a teaszalon terén, mivel részt vehetek a Chicago International-en, ami azt jelenti, hogy az elkövetkező heteket ádáz munkával fogom tölteni.

Birthday, Birthday

A very good friend of mine had her 40th birthday 2 days ago and a colleague of mine had the 50th yesterday, so I made them two tiny cakes as birthday gifts. I used their favourite colours, so Erika got a Mad Hatter style orange, pink and pale green cake with stripes, dots and curves, while Eva owns a gift box cake made of "chocolate", filled with chocolates and truffles and decorated with an orange ribbon.

Happy Birthday Little Princess!

I spent some days on this week with food making. It sounds strangely, but I missed it.... First I just made some apple and pears:

then decided to make something not too fancy, but lovely, so I made a chocolate fountain with ripe strawberries, biscuits and marshmallow. Somehow I was in pink mood and made pink candies and pale pink meringues to upgrade the scene. I plan to sell the chocolate fountain, but probably will keep the second tray with the pink and green plates.

And now, as I don't have any marshmallow, candy or chocolate in my pantry, I think I will eat an apple...

I can tell you it is really-really hard to make yummy and tasty food and eat nothing of it :-(
