Pink Decadence / Rózsaszín dekadencia

 

When I soldered the black chairs I wrote about in my previous post, an absolutely hilarious idea came into my mind:

I decided to keep the sample chair myself.  A chair, I used to calculate the correct proportions and curviness. Why shall I not paint it pink instead of black? So the idea of the Pink Decadence was born.

I decided  to use the pink „Libertine” cakes I made years ago, my favourite pink-green macaron tower, and several St. Honoré cakes, tiny Venus’ breasts cakes and luscious festive cakes. As I mentioned, I used the same chair, and the same table sample. BUT painted the chair with a layer of black paint at first, then pink, but sanded back some of the pink to get a shabby effect. And commited the same crime on the table: I paint the leg with pink enamel paint and the tabletop with pink-grey wide stripes.

I know it is a bit unusual, especially from me, but it was a good fun to make.

Amikor az előző posztomban szereplő fekete székeket hegesztettem, egy vicces ötlet jutott eszembe:

megtartom a mintaszéket (nem, nem hintaszéket, mintaszéket ;) ) magamnak. A széket, amit arra használtam, hogy kiszámítsam a helyes arányokat, a lábak, támla, karfa görbületét. Nos, miért ne festhetném rózsaszínre fekete helyett? Ezzel megszületett a Rózsaszín Dekadencia ötlete.

Úgy döntöttem, az évekkel ezelőtt készített rózsaszín „Libertinus” tortákat használom a jelenethez, a zöld-rózsaszín macaron tornyot, epres és málnás St. Honoré tortácskákat, apró Vénusz mellbimbója sütiket, és ínycsiklandó ünnepi tortákat. Mint mondtam, ugyanazt a széket, és asztalt használtam, mint az előző posztban. DE a széket először lefestettem egy réteg fekete festékkel, majd rózsaszínnel, és az utóbbit visszacsiszoltam a kopottas hatás kedvéért. Ugyanezt a bűnt követtem el az asztalon is: a lábat rózsaszín zománcfestékkel festettem le, míg az asztallap széles rózsaszín-szürke csíkozást kapott.

Tudom, hogy kicsit szokatlan, különösen tőlem, de roppant jó móka volt elkészíteni.

Roof Terrace / Tetőterasz

Another task is completed on the patisserie. It was the most cumbersome I have ever faced (Oh, no, just the 2nd one... the worst was to make the timbers on the medieval inn 4 years ago.), it took about 100 hours to build the terrace, cover with pumice and paint and age.

Do you remember this photo? I took it on 5th of August, 2011, when I started this project:

 

I didn’t want to make compromise I knew exactly how the terrace has to look like: dirty and old looking with moss and lichen as the building itself is 250 years old and it is rare to renovate or clean a roof terrace as regularly as the building. I used actual photos of Petit Trianon to reach the most realistic effect.

The banisters were made by a US company, I just cut them to size and made the large columns. Then the tedious work began: covered the whole roof with a mixture of finely grinded stone and white acrylic paint, finely sanded, painted with a light limestone shade as primer. When it dried I applied a mature limestone shade on most of the banisters and columns and started the shading and aging with a pale grey first, then a dirtier brownish grey and finally with a dark mix of black, grey and bitter chocolate brown. I used extremely diluted paint for the aging for the natural look. When it dried completely I started to paint the lichen and moss. I took several hours to complete this step. I plan to apply more on the floor of the terrace, but it will be made only in May when I’ll return from the KDF. As last step I sanded back some of the pumice, to get the white blurs on the banisters. 80 hours were spent with painting and aging out of that 100, but I think it was worth every minute. The effect is exactly what I wanted: old, mossy, dirty, just like in the reality.

Befejeztem egy újabb feladatot a cukrászdán. Ez volt a legkimerítőbb amivel valaha szembenéztem (Ó nem, csak a 2. legrosszabb, az első a középkori fogadó gerendáinak kifaragása volt 4 éve.), kb. 100 órát vett igénybe megépíteni a teraszt, kőpasztával borítani, festeni és öregíteni.

Emlékeztek erre a fotóra? 2011. augusztus 5-én készítettem, mikor elkezdtem a cukrászda építését.

Nem akartam kompromisszumot kötni, pontosan tudtam, hogy milyennek kell lennie a terasznak: piszkos és öreg kinézetűnek, mohával és zuzmóval, hiszen az épület 250 éves, és ritkán fordul elő, hogy olyan gyakorisággal renoválják és takarítják a tetőteraszt, mint az épületet magát.

Az oszlopokat egy amerikai cég készítette, csak méretre kellett őket vágnom és elkészítenem a nagy oszlopokat. Az igazán fárasztó munka ezután kezdődött: a teljes tetőt finomra őrölt kő és fehér akrilfesték keverékével kellett befednem, majd finoman visszacsiszolnom, ezt követte egy réteg halvány mészkő árnyalat alapozásként. Mikor megszáradt, az oszlopok nagy részét meleg mészkő árnyalattal borítottam, majd következett az öregítés, első fázisként halványszürke árnyalattal, majd egy piszkosabb jellegű barnásszürkével, végül fekete, szürke és étcsokoládé sötét keverékével. Nagy mértékben vizezett festékeket használtam az öregítéshez a természetes hatás érdekében. Mikor teljesen megszáradt elkezdtem a zuzmó és moha festését. Csak ez az egy lépés órákat vett igénybe (pedig csak közelről látható igazán). Úgy tervezem, hogy a tető korláton belüli részére is megfestem, de csak májusban, ha visszajöttem a KDF-ről. Utolsó lépésként visszacsiszoltam az első rétegig itt-ott, hogy előtűnjenek a fehér foltok a korláton. A festés és az öregítés 80 órát vett igénybe a 100-ból, de úgy hiszem minden perce megért. A hatás pontosan az, amit akartam: öreg, mohos, piszkos, épp, mint a valóságban.

Status Update: Ladies’ room hall / Helyzetjelentés: Női mosdó előtere

I worked as hard as I could and finished the ladies’ hall which leads into the – again – non-existing toilette. This time I choose completely different patterns and softer motives to show this room is occupied by ladies.

The floor is marble again, but this time classic white marble which suits well with the pink toile de Jouy wallpaper. First I wanted to paint a pink marble, but it would be too much of pinkish colours I think. It is not easily visible on the photo, but the lower part of the walls decorated with a stucco.

The angels play big part in this tiny room: the wall panels are decorated with angel motives and the panels themselves are more curvy and woman-like too.

When I started to build this salon de thé I knew exactly I want to use a pink toile de Jouy paper on the walls. It is elegant and soft, a perfect choice for this purpose and will complement perfectly the green striped silk fabric on the furniture.

You can see a fake door this time too, on the right wall, it leads to the “toilette”.

Finally a photo about the two rooms together: the basic is exactly the same: white and antique gold, but the wallpaper and colour of the marble makes an enormous difference.

Olyan keményen dolgoztam, ahogy csak tudtam, és befejeztem a női mosdó előterén, ami a – megintcsak – nem létező mosdóba vezet. Ezúttal teljesen eltérő mintákat és kecsesebb motívumokat választottam, hogy ezek is mutassák, ez a szoba hölgyekhez tartozik.

A padló ezúttal is márvány, de fekete helyett fehér, ami remekül illik a rózsaszín toile de Jouy tapétához. Először rózsaszín márványt akartam, de az túl sok rózsaszín árnyalattal zsúfolta volna tele ezt a pici helyiséget. Bár a fotón nehezen látható, de a falak alsó részét könnyed stukkó díszíti. Az angyalok nagy szerepet kaptak ebben az apró szobában: a falpanelek angyalmotívumokkal díszítettek, és a panelek maguk is nőiesebb formájúak.

Amikor építeni kezdtem a teaszalont, már akkor pontosan tudtam, hogy a falakon rózsaszín toile de Jouy tapétát akarok használni. Elegáns, könnyed, tökéletes választás a célra, és remekül kiegészíti a bútorok zöld csíkos selyemkárpitját.

Ezúttal is van álajtó, a jobb falon, és a szintén nem létező mosdóba vezet.

Végül egy fotó a két szobáról együtt: az alap ugyanaz mindkét esetben: fehér és antik arany, de a tapéta és a márvány színe elképesztő különbséget jelent.

Salon De Thé Status Update / Teaszalon helyzetjelentés

It was a while ago I wrote about the salon de thé, but now I have something new to share. I prepared the gents’ room hall which  leads into the (nonexistent) toilette. I spent the weekend with it and worked endless hours to prepare the walls. Now it is installed and you can see how small it is compare to the whole salon de thé.

 The floor is covered with elegant black marble (painted and waxed with beeswax), the walls are painted white with golden trimmings and luxurious green silk wallpaper.

 I placed the refurbished once yellow gold now rich antique gold/black marble table in it as well as the antique gold mirror. I hope you like it.

The next step will be the Ladies’ room hall.

Elég régen írtam a teaszalonról, de most friss hírekkel állhatok elétek. Elkészült a férfi mosdó előtere, ami a (nem létező) mosdóba vezet. Az egész hétvégét ezzel töltöttem, végtelennek tűnő órákon át dolgoztam a falakon. Ma este beépítettem, és látható, hogy mennyire kicsi a teljes teaszalonhoz képest. A padlót fekete márvány borítja (festett és méhviasszal kezelt), a falak fehérek arany szegéllyel és drága zöld selyemtapétával. A valaha sárga arany, most már antik arany / fekete márvány asztalka és az antik arany tükör került belé. Remélem tetszik nektek.

A következő lépés a női mosdó előtere lesz.

Table and Mirror / Asztal és tükör

I finished yesterday the table and mirror during watching the North & South (great scenery, great actors, Elizabeth Gaskell story - a perfect background to the artistic work).
This was my first experience in false black marble painting, it was a good practice before I will start the floor painting.

Tegnap este, miközben az Észak és Dél  c. filmet "néztem" (gyönyörű tájak, elképesztő színészek, Elizabeth Gaskell történet - a tökéletes háttér némi művészi munkához).

Ez volt az első tapasztalatom hamis fekete márvány festés terén, jó gyakorlat volt, mielőtt hozzákezdek a padló festéséhez.

Néhány fotó a tükörről, ami a női mosdóba kerül, az arany - rózsaszín márvány asztal fölé, és az angyal lábú asztalról, ami a férfi szekciót díszíti majd.

The Journey – the first part is over / Az utazás – az első rész véget ér

This is a Big Day for me. Do you remember the post back in August, when I started to build the salon de thé? This was the first photo I posted about it:

7 months went on and now I can proudly announce that the exterior is basically finished. Basically, as there is more work to do on the roof terrace (which does not exist at this moment…), but otherwise it is finished. Certainly I will make pavement and probably a tiny bit of a trimmed French garden later, when the interior is completed, but for now it is ready. It took seven long months to build all the stuccos, door and windows, sometimes I had sore and bleeding fingers, I felt pain all over in my neck and back, but now, when I enter into the living room, I see a building there, which is more than a simple building. Let me be a bit pathetic, but for me it is a dream which comes true. This "tiny" jewel is 60 x 86 x 44 cm (in inches 23 x 34 x17). As she is a "she" I won't give away her weight but I can tell you it is not "catwalk compatible category".

Now I take some days off before I start to work on the interior. I will create the chandeliers first, then move onto the floor making (marble), etc.

I hope you will join me to the rest of the journey too and around Christmas we will celebrate the completed salon de thé.

A mai nagy nap számomra. Emlékeztek a tavaly augusztusi bejegyzésre, mikor elkezdtem a teaszalon építését? Ez volt az első fotó, amit posztoltam róla.

Hét hónap telt el, és most büszkén jelenthetem ki, hogy a külső alapvetően elkészült. Alapvetően, mivel még akad bőven tennivaló a tetőteraszon (ami jelenleg még nem is létezik....), de egyébként elkészült. Természetesen lesz járda, és később talán egy manikűrözött franciakert is, de csak akkor, ha a belső elkészült. Hét hosszú hónapba telt megépíteni a stukkókat, ajtót és ablakokat, néha sajgott és vérzett az ujjam, fájt a nyakam és a hátam, de most, amikor belépek a nappaliba, egy házat látok ott, ami több egyszerű épületnél. Engedjétek meg, hogy patetikus legyek egy kicsit, de egy valóra váló álmot látok. Ez az "apró" ékszer 60 x 86 x 44 cm-es, mivel nőnemű, nem árulom el a súlyát, de annyit megsúgok: nem kifutóra termett.

Néhány nap szünet után folytatódik a munka a teaszalon belső tereivel. Először a csillárok készülnek majd, őket követi a padló (márvány), stb.

Remélem, hogy az út hátralévő részén is velem tartotok, és Karácsony táján együtt ünnepeljük a születő teaszalont.

The First Window / Az első ablak

I wanted to write earlier, but I had to slow down due to a hand injury.

I managed to finish the first French window. It is same as the door, but it doesn’t have handles/door knobs outside, instead of them it got a brass lock system inside. It is not the perfect solution, this is different than the ones in Versailles, but I think they did not greeted if I had checked their windows....

I drilled a hole into the doorstep and inserted a brass pipe which holds the brass rod in place and the window closed. Their is a tiny handle, we can open the window with this handle when we pull it up, the brass rod will leave the pipe in the doorstep and the window can be opened. Ok, it sounds more difficult than it is in the real life...

Now I’m working on some French food: quiche Provencale, terrine, ratatuille, photos will come later J

Korábban akartam írni, de egy kézsérülésnek köszönhetően lassítanom kellett a tempón.

Sikerült befejeznem az első francia ablakot. Ugyanolyan, mint az ajtó, de nincsenek kilincsek, a külső oldalon, hanem a belső oldalon található a réz zárórendszer. Nem a legtökéletesebb megoldás, és nem is olyan, mint Versailles-ban, de azt hiszem nem vették volna jó néven ha fogdosom az ablakaikat....

Fúrtam egy lyukat a küszöbbe, ebbe egy rézcsövet tettem, ez tartja a rézrudat a helyén, és ezzel zárva az ablakot. Egy kicsi kilincse van, ezzel tudjuk nyitni az ablakot: amikor felhúzzuk, akkor a rézrúd kiemelkedik a küszöbben lévő csőből, és az ablakot ki lehet nyitni. OK, ez bonyolultabban hangzik, mint amilyen valójában.

Most francia ételeken dolgozom: Provence-i quiche-en, pástétomon, francia lecsón, később lesznek fotók is róluk.

Entrance door / Bejárati ajtó

3 weekends, 70 hours of work = 1 finished and installed French door in my Salon de Thé.

Making the door was far more labour intensive than I thought before. Now I have sore fingers and aching back and neck, I can’t even count how many tiny pieces of wood were cut and glued into place, how many slim wooden rod was painted all over again. But one door is finished and looks ok for me. I have 3 more French windows and one more French door to make, but now I do not even want to think of how much time they will take to make. I usually don’t complain because of work, but this was a unique experience. I have to take some days off, working with clay and collect enough strength to start again.

Just a silly „joke”: I decided to drink a glass of milk some hours ago and when I brought it back to the fridge, I had a look at the carton and read the following text: Made by Fimo Food Kft. I just stared, then realized it is actually Fino Food Kft.. Maybe it’s time to make Fimo food J

3 hétvége, 70 órányi munka = 1 elkészült és beszerelt franciaajtó a teaszalonban.

Az ajtó elkészítése sokkal keményebb munka volt, mint azt korábban gondoltam. Most sajognak az ujjaim, fáj a hátam és a nyakam, megszámolni sem tudnám mennyi apró fadarabot vágtam le, és ragasztottam a helyére, mennyi vékony falécet festettem le újra és újra. De egy ajtó végre elkészült, és elégedett vagyok vele. Még három franciaablakot és egy franciaajtót kell elkészítenem, de most még csak gondolni sem akarok arra, hogy mennyi időbe fog telni megcsinálni. Általában nem panaszkodom a munka miatt, de ez most különleges tapasztalat volt. Szükségem van néhány szabadnapra, egy kis Fimo-val való munkára és erőgyűjtésre, hogy folytatni tudjam.

Egy ostoba „vicc”: néhány órája elhatároztam, hogy iszom egy pohár tejet. Mikor a dobozt visszavittem a hűtőbe, ránéztem, és a következő feliratot olvastam rajta: gyártja a Fimo Food Kft. Csak bámultam, aztán rájöttem, hogy az valójában Fino Food Kft. Talán itt az ideje egy kis Fimo étel gyártásnak J

Extra Long Post for Christmas

This is an extra long post packed with photos to you dear readers. As I will not have time to write before Christmas, take it as Christmas post J

In the last weeks I made a big improvement on the salon de thé. First I was scared to death to start the exterior painting, but I could not skip this step and leave it white... So collected myself and started to paint. I applied two thin layers of basic limestone colour (a mixture of cafe cream and matt white).

 then the „artistic” work started: I had to apply several layers of different aged and/or damp limestone shades, even dirty ones. For these layers I thinned the paint mixtures with water. All in all I used 7 different shades to get the correct effect.

I decided to paint the back wall really aged and damp, as it is usual when the building wasn’t renovated outside, but certainly did not want to repeat it on the front facade, it will not match well with the luxurious interior. Therefore the front got an average limestone look with smaller damp patches and some dirt at the feet.

Finally I took some „simulation” photos today, though the end result will not look like this. The floor will be white marble with tiny black squares, the walls covered with white and golden wood panels decorated with pink toile de jouy wallpaper and an ornate ceiling decorated with golden patterns. The golden décor will reflect the light of the wall sconces and the crystal chandelier. Mouth-watering extraordinary cakes will fill the marble counter, each windowsill will be decorated with a macaron topiaries and macaron tower, which will allow the guests to see the park, but will protect them from the visitors’ stares.
